Hosein was 4,200 kilometres away, working with other men on a strawberry, vegetable and flower farm just east of Guelph. The diminutive 37-year-old Trinidad native and other foreign farm workers are here because they're willing to do the jobs his employer, Roger Knapp, says locals refuse to do -- for $8.35 an hour.
In her grief, Priscilla, with no husband, no father in the picture and her only sibling dead, must deal with insurance companies, lawyers and funeral home bills. She must also figure out how to keep up the mortgage payments on the house.
They paid $290,000 for the house, with only five per cent down. In the days following the accident, her mother's co-workers have set up a bank account, hoping friends and others will help ease the sudden financial burden.
